Habitat for Humanity Peninsula and Greater Williamsburg Hosts Inaugural Believe & Build Breakfast, Raising $35,000 to Support Affordable Homeownership

More than 200 community members, partners and advocates gathered on Nov. 5, 2025, for Habitat for Humanity Peninsula and Greater Williamsburg’s inaugural Believe & Build: A Breakfast for Change, an event designed to spotlight the transformative power of affordable homeownership and mobilize support for local families.
Guests heard deeply personal stories from Habitat homebuyers who shared how having a safe and affordable home has strengthened their families and opened doors to generational opportunity. Habitat building partners and regional housing experts also offered insights into the growing need for affordable housing across the greater Hampton Roads region — and the role community collaboration must play in addressing it.
The breakfast featured remarks from special guest Egypt Sherrod, former executive producer of HGTV’s Married to Real Estate, whose participation helped shine a spotlight on the life-changing opportunities created when families can access affordable homes.
Attendees responded with generosity, contributing $35,000 to support Habitat’s first-time homebuyer program, which provides qualifying families with low- and moderate-income the opportunity to purchase safe, affordable homes with a zero-interest equivalent mortgage.
All funds raised will remain in the local community, directly supporting Habitat’s work to help families build strength, stability and self-reliance through homeownership.
“Believe & Build was created to bring our community together around one unifying idea — that when families have access to affordable housing, everything becomes possible,” said Shauntrice Williams, CEO of Habitat for Humanity Peninsula and Greater Williamsburg. “The support we witnessed reinforces what we already know: this region believes in building futures, one Habitat home at a time.”
