Procurement Associate
Job Classification: Non-exempt

Reports To: Procurement Manager, Procurement Coordinator with guidance from the ReStore Directors, CEO, COO and Board of Directors
Overview: The procurement associate will work closely with the procurement coordinator to provide pickup service for bulk commercial donations. In addition, the procurement associate will assist in all aspects of procurement in order to grow the ReStore inventory, which in turn builds affordable homes for low to moderate-income families in our community.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Operations
- Act as an ambassador of the ReStore while interacting with donors, customers, volunteers
- Complete daily truck routes for bulk donation pickup and delivery including store-to-store and warehouse transfers
- Maintain marketing materials at local businesses
- Confirm and strengthen existing business relationships during visits
- Perform daily safety checks and cleaning of ReStore trucks
- Provides support for warehouse through inventory, organization, communication, staging
- Proactively works to improve commercial donor relations with guidance from the procurement manager and procurement coordinator
- Assist the procurement manager with setup/breakdown of on/off-site events
- Attend networking events with guidance from procurement manager
- A desire to meet the needs of the Habitat for Humanity mission to include all other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Valid driver’s license in good standing and clean 5 year driving record are required.

- Candidates must be able to confidently drive a box truck, experience with larger vehicles or a CDL are a plus but not required.

ReStore Associate (Williamsburg)

Truck Driver & Processor (Williamsburg)

The Habitat for Humanity ReStore team in Williamsburg and Newport News is now hiring Truck Driver & Donation Processors. This position reports to the Logistics Office Manager and is responsible for transporting, loading and unloading donations to and from the ReStore.
Primary duties and responsibilities include the following:
- Ensure cleanliness and safety of the trucks
- Complete daily/weekly/monthly safety check lists on trucks. Keep records in log book located on truck. Report ALL truck issues to the Fleet Coordinator
- Assist with donation screening and pick-ups. Expected to accept upstairs and downstairs donations keeping the safety of donor, their home, driver and assistant a priority
- Assist with loading recycling runs from both ReStore locations
- Assist with unloading and loading all trucks
- Demonstrate professionalism and courtesy at all times to donors, customers, volunteers and fellow employees
- While at ReStore, assist with processing procedures as necessary
- Supervise volunteers when applicable
- Assist with warehouse runs as needed

Construction Assistant
The Construction Assistant is responsible for working alongside the construction team to build affordable homes for families with low to moderate incomes. In this position, you are expected to be working hands on at a steady pace, when volunteers are and are not present.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for aiding with set-up, clean-up and maintenance of construction sites.
- Assist with coordination of volunteer work assignments and help volunteers find useful, productive and rewarding contributions safely on the job site.
- Provide support to construction managers to ensure building materials are on-site when volunteers arrive for scheduled build days.
Requirements:
- Must be RELIABLE and DEPENDABLE.
- Must have CONSISTENT transportation, possessing own transportation.
- Previous knowledge of construction and owning some construction tools helpful. Must be very interested in LEARNING all about construction and the Habitat way.
- Feel comfortable interacting with a diverse group of people and be capable and enthusiastic about working with volunteers and future homeowners.
- Must be able to learn from daily experiences and become a self-starter who can work alongside the crew and volunteers without constant direction.

Repair Crew Leader
The repair crew leader plays an integral part in building and repairing homes. They will assist Habitat for Humanity Peninsula and Greater Williamsburg in helping local senior citizens, persons with disabilities, veterans and low-income families live longer and more safely in their homes. The repair program leader will be responsible for repair/construction related tasks. They will work closely with the home repair manager to lead groups of skilled and unskilled volunteers and homeowners in construction and repair activities while maintaining a safe, efficient work environment, thus developing, and enhancing their volunteer management and construction skills.
Service activities
- Assist the home repair manager and construction crew (as needed) with all aspects of hands-on repair and construction tasks including, but not limited to, site prep, framing, painting, carpentry, and landscaping.
- Projects may include new construction, home repair and weatherization projects.
- Lead small groups of volunteers and facilitate safe and positive experiences for everyone working on site.
- Maintain site safety by adhering to Habitat construction safety policies, modeling best practices and guidelines, volunteer instruction and site monitoring.
AmeriCorps members may not perform prohibited activities as outlined in 45 CFR §2520.65 nor may they supplement, duplicate, or displace staff members in place at the host site.
Member development
Minimum expectations are outlined in the member development guidance, which will be available during the interview process, with the understanding that further trainings may be required, as determined by the host site, Habitat for Humanity International or our federal funder. AmeriCorps National members’ training may not exceed 20% of their aggregate hours.
The AmeriCorps member will attend monthly staff meetings as well as monthly meetings with the repair team. The AmeriCorps member may need to attend additional training with the construction crew and repair team in order to learn skills needed to lead volunteers on repair projects. Additionally, the AmeriCorps member will be expected to attend groundbreakings and ribbon cutting/house dedication ceremonies night in order to be part of the Habitat team and grow their Habitat knowledge.

Minimum requirements

Service site environment
Service site is an active construction site, often with rough and uneven terrain. Members will serve both indoors and outdoors during all types of weather. Construction tools will be provided. Members will have access to a shared computer station in the Habitat organization office to check service-related email and complete timesheets and reporting.

- Part time living allowance $9,000 for approximately 10 ½ months of service.

Repair Services Coordinator
The repair services coordinator builds and maintains the pipeline of homeowners by leading efforts to recruit and educate qualified individuals and families. They serve as the main point of contact as each potential homeowner goes through the repair application process. In partnership with the home repair manager, they help process applications, approve homeowners for repair or rehab of existing homes and weatherization projects and schedule volunteers to work with the home repair manager on those repairs.
Service activities
- Coordinate existing repair programs to recruit homeowner applicants for housing products such as rehab, repair, or weatherization.
- Conduct applicant orientations as needed and assist individuals and families throughout process of completing the repair application.
- Work with the home repair manager to select individuals and families based on established criteria and regulations.
- Schedule approved homeowners for repairs, inspections and assessments done by the home repair manager.
- Assist in updating program policies and procedures as needed.
- Use paper forms or project management software to update status of repair projects.
- Use volunteer management database to schedule volunteers for repair days.
- Participate in meetings and trainings.
- On occasion, build alongside the home repair manager and homeowner families as they complete their repair partnership requirements.

Physical requirements
- Ability to sit at a desk and computer for extended periods of time.
- About 30% of this position requires outreach in the community, including visiting buildings and homes that may have stairs, as well as occasionally serving on project sites that may have uneven terrain.
Service site environment
Member will primarily serve in an open-space office and will share the area with other staff or fellow members. Each member will have a desk, computer (with email and internet access) and a phone for service-related tasks. Shared resources include a printer, copy machine, fax machine as well as office supplies.

Habitat for Humanity Peninsula and Greater Williamsburg National Direct AmeriCorps commit to 10 ½ months of part-time service and receive the following benefits:
- Part-time living allowance $9,000 for approximately 10 ½ months of service.
- Segal AmeriCorps Education Award upon successful completion of service
