Habitat for Humanity Peninsula and Greater Williamsburg Releases 2024 Annual Report Highlighting Milestones, Impact and Growth

Habitat for Humanity Peninsula and Greater Williamsburg recently released its 2024 Annual Report, showcasing a year of accomplishments, strategic growth and meaningful contributions to affordable housing. The report highlights the nonprofit’s efforts in supporting families through affordable homeownership, repair programs and community-driven initiatives across the Peninsula and Greater Williamsburg regions.

This year’s Annual Report commemorates the tremendous impact of retiring CEO Janet V. Green, who led the organization for 22 years. Since Green started in 2002, Habitat has achieved many milestones, including assisting 174 more families achieve homeownership, providing critical home repairs for 529 families and expanding the organization’s operational capacity to serve more families with an $8 million annual budget.

“My time at Habitat has been an incredibly rewarding and fulfilling chapter in my life,” Green said. “Over the years, I have had the privilege of working alongside dedicated partners, and I am grateful for the invaluable experiences and opportunities Habitat has provided me.”

The report also details the successful launch of Habitat’s ReStore eStore, which made a curated selection of vintage and unique items available online, adding a new avenue for supporters to shop sustainably and contribute to affordable housing.

The support of the community, said Keith D. Vander Vennet, Board President, “enables us to continue empowering low-income families in our community to build and own affordable homes where they can thrive. Your generosity helps more families experience the security and comfort of a safe, sustainable and affordable home. The impact of your kindness will ripple through generations, creating lasting positive change.”

The 2024 Annual Report includes program highlights, financial data and personal stories of Habitat families whose lives have been transformed by affordable homeownership and repairs.

In a call to action, Habitat invites community members to support its mission by donating, volunteering or shopping at ReStores, ensuring that more families can achieve the security and stability of a Habitat home.
