You’re Bringing Home Clean Furniture When You Shop at the Habitat ReStores
Shop at the Habitat ReStores when you’re looking for your next piece of furniture or living room set and rest assured 100% of the furniture is sanitized before it’s put on the sales floor.
The Habitat ReStores in Newport News, Williamsburg and Yorktown sell gently used furniture, home goods, building materials and more at deeply discounted prices. All proceeds go toward Habitat’s mission of building homes, communities and hope.
ReStore Director Scott Husch says upholstered and leather furniture is thoroughly sanitized using a spray that will kill any and all pests that might live inside of the furniture. Before the solvent is used, every piece is vacuumed and brushed with a lint roller. Couch cushions are removed and sanitized on all sides.
Per Virginia Health Department regulations, all furniture is tagged with a label that includes the date of sanitation.
“We want to make sure we’re good stewards to the community and what we’re selling is quality and safe to bring into your home,” Husch said. “If we have any doubts, we don’t sell the item.”
The ReStore only accepts upholstered or wooden furniture in good condition with no rips, tears, stains and odors. Furniture must be free from animal dander and droppings. Particle board furniture is not accepted.
