New Online Tool Makes it Even Easier to Schedule FREE Pickup of Donated Items for Habitat ReStores in Newport News, Williamsburg
It’s never been easier to donate to the Habitat for Humanity ReStores in Williamsburg and Newport News.
Residents from New Kent to Hampton and every place in between can schedule their free ReStore pickup using a new online tool. The tool asks you to start by entering the zip code of your pick-up location. You then check a box as to whether the donation is residential or commercial.
From there, you will be led to a page asking for donation details. The list of acceptable donated items includes furniture; appliances; home décor; exercise equipment in full working condition; building materials; electronics; floor and upholstery cleaning appliances; heating, ventilation and cooling materials; outdoor and lawn care items; and miscellaneous. Remember the ReStore DOES NOT accept clothing.
Unsure if your item is suitable for donation? Email photos to [email protected].
You will be asked to specify the location of the donated item on your property. We ask that you make donations easily accessible — preferably outside, in a garage or on the first floor. If your donation requires upstairs pickup, it must be easily accessible and be able to be moved safely as to not cause damage to your home or risk injury to our drivers. As long as the item is in good condition, it will be accepted. See more details about what to donate here.
You then select the date you prefer the item be picked up.
From there, you will be asked to enter your contact details, including address and phone number. You will receive an email confirmation and the ReStore will call you by noon the day before your scheduled pickup to provide a two-hour window.
Of course, if you’d rather not fill out an online request, you can also call the ReStore Donation Hotline at 757-246 4955 and select Option 1. Or you can email your details to [email protected].
You can drop off donated items at the Williamsburg ReStore from Tuesday-Saturday between 10 a.m.-4 p.m. and at the Newport News ReStore Monday-Saturday between 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
Remember, 100% of the profits of your donated items contribute to Habitat for Humanity’s mission to build more homes for deserving low- to moderate-income families locally. Donating also promotes recycling by preventing unwanted items from being dumped in landfills.
The Williamsburg ReStore is located in the Colony Square Shopping Center at 1303 Jamestown Road and the Newport News Restore is at 371 Chatham Drive.
