We need donated lots to build more homes! Habitat for Humanity depends on land that is donated. Eliminating the cost to purchase land dramatically reduces the cost of homes we sell to low-income homebuyers. The legacy will live on through the families who live in the houses built on that land. All land donations are tax deductible and some are eligible for tax credits. If you have land in Hampton, James City County, Newport News, Poquoson, York County, Charles City County, or New Kent County and would like to reduce your tax obligation, please donate it to Habitat PGW. Contact our CEO using [email protected] or 757-913-5651 for more information.

Your vehicle donation can help a family build a home, and the hope of a better life! Car, truck, boat and RV donations help Habitat for Humanity build houses in partnership with families in need of decent, affordable shelter. Donate a car, truck, boat, RV or other vehicle to Cars for Homes™, Habitat for Humanity’s car donation program, by calling 1-877-277-4344 toll free or online at carsforhomes.org.

Buy a Share in the Future of Your Community!

A 1,200 square foot Habitat home costs approximately $125,000 to build, which breaks down to $104.00 per square foot. Therefore, the cost of one SHARE or one square foot is $104.00. These SHARE certificates make great holiday, graduation and birthday gifts that can be personalized with the recipient’s name. The personalized certificate is suitable for framing and will state the number of shares purchased and the amount of each share, as well as the recipient’s name. The home that you participate in “building” will last for many years and will continue to grow in value.

Neighborhood Assistance Program (NAP) Tax Credits

NAP uses state income tax credits as incentives for businesses to invest directly in certain approved community NAP projects, such as Habitat, designed to benefit impoverished people, in order to define local problems, design local solutions, and use available resources to improve the community environment. Participating businesses receive credits at 40-65% of the value of their contribution (in addition to allowable federal and state charitable contribution deductions) that can be applied against their state income tax obligation.

Stock and Bond Gifts

A charitable gift of stocks or bonds provides an opportunity for tax savings while generously sharing with others. A gift of stock owned for more than one year entitles you to a charitable deduction for the full market value at the time the gift is made. If the stock has appreciated, you also avoid a capital gains tax on the appreciation. In addition to helping Habitat for Humanity Peninsula & Greater Williamsburg, you may diversify away from low-basis, long term holdings into other assets that will better suit your current needs.

DONATE NOW

We help as many families as we can, but the lack of decent and affordable housing remains a critical problem in our area. By donating, you will provide upfront funding for building materials and services that makes interest-free loans to Habitat partner families possible. Habitat partner families help to build their own homes - alongside volunteers - and pay an affordable mortgage. Your monetary donations enable us to continue building strength, stability and independence for future local families.
