Watch Out for Scam Using Habitat for Humanity Name

Computer screen with red scam alert triangle and exclamation point

A scam has hit social media platforms like Facebook and YouTube that falsely use the Habitat for Humanity name and logo to offer free roofing or repair services. These ads direct people to non-Habitat websites to collect personal info – which puts you at risk for identity theft.

Habitat for Humanity International and our fellow affiliates are actively working to get these fraudulent posts taken down.

Scammers are constantly creating new methods to steal your money and information, so be vigilant and aware of where you’re putting your personal information.

We are always available to answer any questions you may have regarding our solicitations and services, so please give us a call if you receive any strange emails.

Please remember to stay safe and avoid scams by doing the following:

  • Always verify the source
  • Never share personal info on suspicious sites
  • Contact your local Habitat affiliate, like us here, directly if you have questions.

Thank you for helping us protect our community and our mission.

We help as many families as we can, but the lack of decent and affordable housing remains a critical problem in our area. By donating, you will provide upfront funding for building materials and services that makes interest-free loans to Habitat partner families possible. Habitat partner families help to build their own homes - alongside volunteers - and pay an affordable mortgage. Your monetary donations enable us to continue building strength, stability and independence for future local families.
