Got a great ReStore makeover story? Habitat for Humanity Peninsula and Greater Williamsburg wants to see it.

As part of its 40th anniversary celebration, Habitat is inviting the community to take part in “Show Us How You ReStore,” a creative contest that highlights the incredible ways people give new life to their Habitat ReStore finds. Simply share your before-and-after photos and the story behind your project for the chance to win one of four $40 ReStore gift cards awarded each month through the end of 2025.

Photos and stories can be submitted here.

“Every project tells a story,” said Shauntrice Williams, CEO of Habitat for Humanity Peninsula and Greater Williamsburg. “We see people come into the ReStore, spot a piece that might look ordinary and completely transform it. This contest celebrates that creativity and the role it plays in building homes, communities and hope.”

Participants are encouraged to show off how they’ve styled, upcycled or repurposed their favorite ReStore treasures. Monthly winners will be chosen based on creativity and the inspiration behind each project.

Behind the fun lies a deeper purpose.

Every purchase at ReStore helps fund Habitat for Humanity’s mission to build affordable homes for families across the Peninsula and Greater Williamsburg. That means a dresser turned into a bar cart, a chair painted a fresh new color or a table refinished for a family dining room doesn’t just brighten one home. It helps make another home possible.

“We hope people see this as more than a contest,” added Williams. “It’s a chance to share their creativity, inspire their neighbors and be part of Habitat’s story of transforming lives and communities.”

We help as many families as we can, but the lack of decent and affordable housing remains a critical problem in our area.
