Eat Local, Give Back: The Great Food Truck Festival Is Coming to the Newport News ReStore

Mark your calendars for Saturday, September 20, 2025. The 8th Annual Great Food Truck Festival is rolling into the Newport News Habitat ReStore parking lot and you’re invited to be part of a day full of flavor, fun and community impact.

This beloved event, organized by Lux Events LLC, is more than just a chance to taste your way through dozens of delicious food trucks and shop local vendors—it’s also an opportunity to give back to the local community in a big way.

One dollar from every festival ticket sold will be donated to Habitat for Humanity Peninsula and Greater Williamsburg, helping more local families achieve their dream of buying their first home and creating more affordable housing right here in the local community.

A Day for Foodies, Shoppers and Community Builders

The festival runs from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., filling the day with something for everyone:

  • Dozens of food trucks serving up everything from savory BBQ to sweet, decadent desserts.
  • Local vendor booths featuring unique goods, services and giveaways.
  • Hourly BINGO games (1 to 5 p.m.) with exciting prizes like Apple AirTags, an Echo Show and even a 65″ Smart TV.
  • A food tasting competition where guest judges help crown the “Best of 2025.”
  • Cash prizes for lucky VIPs and vendor shoppers throughout the day.

And it’s not just outside that the treasures are waiting—step inside the Newport News ReStore during the event to find new and gently used furniture, appliances, home goods and building materials.

Every purchase at the ReStore supports Habitat’s mission.

Why Your Ticket Matters

When you buy a ticket to the Great Food Truck Festival, you’re not just securing a day of delicious eats and local spending—you’re helping your neighbors. The $1 donation from each ticket adds up, directly supporting Habitat for Humanity Peninsula & Greater Williamsburg’s work to build and repair homes for families right here in our community.

Your support means parents can tuck their children into a safe bed at night, seniors can age in place with dignity and more families can build a future on the foundation of homeownership.

DONATE NOW

We help as many families as we can, but the lack of decent and affordable housing remains a critical problem in our area. By donating, you will provide upfront funding for building materials and services that makes interest-free loans to Habitat partner families possible. Habitat partner families help to build their own homes - alongside volunteers - and pay an affordable mortgage. Your monetary donations enable us to continue building strength, stability and independence for future local families.
