If you’ve ever shopped at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore in Newport News or Williamsburg, you’re familiar with just how much stuff there is inside, from furniture to appliances to building materials to just about anything you can imagine.
We’re grateful for all the folks who shop there and to everyone who donates. The proceeds support Habitat for Humanity Peninsula and Greater Williamsburg’s mission to provide affordable housing for families in the community to buy.
The ReStore needs warehouse space in Newport News, Williamsburg or ideally somewhere in between to store extra inventory and seasonal items.
True to the Habitat mission, the ReStores are looking for a hand up, not a hand out.
“We would love to partner with an area business that has warehouse space available,” said Steve Russell, director of the Williamsburg ReStore.
The ReStore in specifically in need of 5,000-6,000 square feet of space that is climate controlled and under a roof with no leaks; a loading dock is essential.
In return, the ReStore can offer the business that supplies the space multiple incentives that include but are not limited to free advertising for the partnering business at both store locations and via social media.
That’s a lot of exposure. Roughly 150,000 patrons have visited the Newport News and Williamsburg stores in the last fiscal year, a number surely to rise with COVID-19 restrictions lifting.
Additional advertising is possible on the side of ReStore trucks, which travel all over Hampton Roads to pick up donations. The ReStore is willing to give out ReStore bucks and discount cards to employees of the partnering company, too.
Best of all, this opportunity allows a local business to give back to the community it serves by contributing to a nonprofit committed to helping families build strength, stability and independence through home ownership.
