What Is the Rope of Hope?
The Rope of Hope allows golfers to improve a ball’s position by up to 3 feet without taking an additional stroke.
Key Rules:
- On the putting green, if the hole is within 3 feet, the rope may be used to move the ball directly into the cup.
- Each rope may be used once during the round.
- The rope cannot be cut or divided.
- Teams may use a maximum of four Rope of Hope plays during the tournament.
- Rope of Hope may not be used to move a ball out of a penalty area or from out-of-bounds.
- It may be used to move a ball out of the rough or a bunker, provided the new position is within 3 feet.
