Volunteers help at a Habitat for Humanity home

Habitat’s 2026 Home Repair Blitz United Community Leaders and Volunteers to Repair 12 Homes

Habitat for Humanity Peninsula and Greater Williamsburg’s 2026 Home Repair Blitz brought together volunteers, community leaders and supporters for a powerful day of service across Hampton and Newport News. On just one May day, teams completed exterior repairs on 12 homes, helping local homeowners continue living safely and comfortably in the homes they love.

This year’s Blitz was supported by an inspiring group of leaders, including Newport News Mayor Phillip Jones, Hampton Mayor Jimmy Gray, Congressman Bobby Scott and United Way of the Virginia Peninsula CEO Charvalla West, who joined volunteers on-site and worked alongside crews.

Habitat’s Home Repair Blitz provides critical exterior repairs for older adults, veterans, individuals with disabilities and low-income homeowners for a nominal fee. The program is made possible through the generosity of sponsors, donors and volunteers who are committed to preserving homeownership and strengthening neighborhoods throughout the Peninsula and Greater Williamsburg community.

We help as many families as we can, but the lack of decent and affordable housing remains a critical problem in our area. By donating, you will provide upfront funding for building materials and services that makes interest-free loans to Habitat partner families possible. Habitat partner families help to build their own homes - alongside volunteers - and pay an affordable mortgage. Your monetary donations enable us to continue building strength, stability and independence for future local families.
