Attention Walmart Shoppers: Spark Good by Giving to Local Habitat

Breaking news!

When you shop online at Walmart, you can also support Habitat for Humanity Peninsula and Greater Williamsburg.

Just in time for the 2022 holidays, Walmart launched a program called Spark Good, which makes giving easier than ever.

Here’s how it works.

Spark Good Round Up allows customers to round up their purchase total to the nearest dollar and donate the change to a public charity of their choice when shopping online. Designate Habitat for Humanity Peninsula and Greater Williamsburg as your charity of choice here to support the mission to build homes, communities and hope.

It costs $125,000 to build one Habitat house. Habitat houses are sold to qualified local families who agree to pay back the zero-interest mortgage over 20 to 30 years. Habitat cycles those payments back into the local community so more houses can be built.

Speaking of rounding up, you can also round up your purchases to the next dollar at both the Newport News and Williamsburg ReStores with the extra change supporting Habitat for Humanity Peninsula and Greater Williamsburg.

DONATE NOW

We help as many families as we can, but the lack of decent and affordable housing remains a critical problem in our area. By donating, you will provide upfront funding for building materials and services that makes interest-free loans to Habitat partner families possible. Habitat partner families help to build their own homes - alongside volunteers - and pay an affordable mortgage. Your monetary donations enable us to continue building strength, stability and independence for future local families.
