DESCRIPTION:NEW DATE: SEPTEMBER 30\, 2023 \nDue to forecasted inclement weather on September 23\, 2023\, the Home Repair Blitz has been moved to the following Saturday\, September 30\, 2023. \n  \nOur single-day home repair event in Newport News and Hampton will take place September 30\, 2023. During a Home Repair Blitz\, experienced construction volunteers lead a group of volunteers to complete the home repairs. \nWant to join us? \nTo volunteer on this project\, please visit our Volunteer Hub here – https://bit.ly/40HMXFC – and register so we know your interest! \nWe will email those volunteers who opt to receive Volunteer Alert emails via the Hub when we post the schedule. You may be emailed sooner if you are a skilled volunteer and can lead a group on a repair project. \nVolunteers must be at least 16 years old and volunteer groups are welcome! We have enjoyed our partnerships with the military\, fraternities\, sororities\, faith groups\, businesses and civic groups.

DESCRIPTION:CALLING ALL TEAM LEADER VOLUNTEERS for our upcoming Home Repair Blitz in Newport News and Hampton! \nDo you have carpentry\, general construction or home repair skills? Volunteer as a TEAM LEADER at our upcoming 2023 Hampton and Newport News Home Repair Blitz! \nWe need SKILLED volunteers to work as Team Leaders as we assist veteran\, low-income\, elderly or disabled homeowners with: \n-exterior carpentry (replace hand rails\, porches\, stairs\, ramps\, etc.)\n-house & siding painting -other minor exterior repairs (steps\, gutters\, fence)\n-safety-related improvements \nEach Team Leader will “adopt” a house\, and oversee the projects and volunteers on that home. Team Leaders will generally commit at least 5-6 hours of prep time prior to the event and also commit all day of the event or the proposed rain date at his or her pre-selected home. \nTeam Leaders should aim to be available on SATURDAY\, SEPTEMBER 23\, 2023 \nIf you are interested in serving as a Team Leader\, please plan to attend this Team Leader Orientation Thursday\, August 10\, 2023 at 6 p.m. at the Habitat Program Office at 11011 Warwick Blvd. in Newport News. \nQuestions?
